Divine Pine Studios is owned and operated by multidisciplinary artist Abby Dawson, who creates in her home studio on a divine chunk of land in rural south central Michigan (hence the name divine pine). Abby’s mediums include ceramics, painting, illustration, fibers, and chalkboard murals. All ceramic work is made on the wheel or hand-built in small batches and often features intricate surface designs.
Abby earned a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and Psychology with a focus in Art Therapy, Ceramics, and Painting in 2014. The practice of art as therapy and art as a spiritual practice has been pivotal in forming her artwork and teachings. The ceramics lessons she offers in her studio are taught with art therapy principles in mind.
Abby’s work is detail oriented and typically features freehand paintings, carvings, organic textures, and repetitive sculptural forms. She is inspired by patterns found in nature and the concept of sonder, which is the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own.
